Tangerine Dream are German-based purveyors of imaginative electronic music. There have been numerous line-ups since the band's formation in September 1967, although Edgar Froese has remained at the head of affairs throughout. Tangerine Dream's impressive live reputation dates back to the early 70's. Their shows tended to be completely improvised. From these live improvisations came several of the bands early successful albums including "Phaedra", "Zeit" and "Ricochet". The 35th anniversary concert was a concert that found the band celebrating the recording of the landmark album Phaedra. The concert which was filmed on the 11th of June 2005 was performed in front of a sell out audience and featured material from Phaedra alongside newer more recent material. The band which features Thorsten Quaeschning, Linda Spa, Jerome Froese and Iris Camaa were filmed and recorded for this landmark concert and perform many pieces from the bands lengthy career including Phaedra '05, Rubycon Pt.1, Force Majeure, Logos and a cover of the Jimi Hendrix classic Purple Haze.
The Bonus DVD (DVD2) has interviews with all the members of the band and some extras like the soundcheck performance, fans interviews, and a photograph slideshow of the concert. This 35th Phaedra Anniversary Concert is a must for every fan of TANGERINE DREAM. It is a good "sampler" of all TANGERINE DREAM music.

In December 1974 Tangerine Dream were invited to play in the grand setting of Rheims Cathedral, a move certainly seen at the time as groundbreaking. Because of this, they were then invited to perform in the cathedrals of York, Liverpool and Coventry. The tour attracted unprecedented coverage in the media, especially at Coventry Cathedral, an iconic building rising like a Phoenix on the ruins of the old cathedral bombed to bits by the Germans in 1940 (Tangerine Dream is, after all, a German band) as a celebration of peace and reconciliation, as well as a lasting showcase for Great Contemporary Art.

On July 1st, 2011, Montreux hosted the reunion of two master guitarists, Carlos Santana and John McLaughlin, with their Invitation To Illumination concert. Both musicians have been regulars at Montreux across the years but this was the first time they headlined their own concert together. The show features most of the tracks from their classic 1973 album "Love Devotion Surrender" mixed in with a wealth of other material. The evening was a showcase of supreme musical virtuosity and spirituality and typified the approach of these two great artists. It is certainly a performance not to be missed. La Grange is included on one track. This musical release from Carlos Santana and John McLaughlin captures a live performance by the two artists, recorded at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2011. Songs featured in the concert include "The Creator Has a Master Plan", "Let Us Go Into the House of the Lord", and more.

In the 1970s and 80’s, a fusion in jazz music occurred giving birth to a new, more electrified and diverse genre called jazz-funk. Some notable pioneers in this genre were: The Crusaders, Weather Report, Herbie Hancock, Alphonse Mouzon, Chick Corea, Lee Ritenour, Azymuth, Eumir Deodato, Jeff Lorber, Seawind, and Koinonia. Though less known in the United States, Koinonia established themselves as a huge sensation in Scandinavia and Western Europe, performing to sell-out crowds from 1982 to 1991 in Norway, Denmark, Holland, Sweden, Their Latin-infused rhythms and upbeat melodies gave them a distinct and cultured sound. Taken from a Greek word used in the Bible to mean “intimate fellowship” Koinonia was notably one of the first Christian, though primarily instrumental, jazz bands. The original members of the band, which formed in 1980, were: (leader) classically trained guitarist, Abraham Laboriel on electric bass guitar, child-prodigy drummer Bill Maxwell, Dean Parks on guitar, Alex Acuña on percussion and drums, John Phillips on woodwinds, Hadley Hockensmith on guitar, and Harlan Rogers on keyboards. The Eagles said that hell would freeze over before they ever played together again, but in 1994, apparently an ice storm overtook the fiery mythological place as Glen Frey, Don Henley, Timothy B. Schmit, Joe Walsh and Don Felder all reunited on one of the most talked about, sought after reunion tours in history.
