G3 Live 2005

This DVD features the trio of Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, and John Petrucci of Dream Theater, performing live on May 8, 2005 at the International Forum in Tokyo. Also included are show highlights, 5.1 sound, behind-the-scenes at the soundcheck, and bios. G3, a guitar supergroup that features top-tier shredders Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, and John Petrucci, is a guitar-lover's dream come true. The band's usual high energy is cranked up even higher on this live Tokyo date, and the amount of heavy riffing and blistering leads throughout the set is mightily ferocious. Petrucci, who rose to prominence in the progressive metal band Dream Theater, distinguishes himself here, and proves that his six-string skills are on par with revered axe-slinging of Vai and Satriani. In addition to some extended jams, there are covers of classic, guitar-defining rock songs (Deep Purple's "Smoke On the Water" and Jimi Hendrix's "Foxey Lady," among them) that add a dash of fun to the jaw-dropping pyrotechnics on offer.


JOE SATRIANI LIVE in San Francisco 2000 (2 DVD)

This 150 minute, 25 song live concert was recorded at The Fillmore in San Francisco in December 2000. Satriani's band also features Stu Hamm on Bass, Jeff Campitelli on drums and Eric Caudieux on keyboards and guitars. Heavy metal guitar guru Joe Satriani is responsible for, among others, the six-string talents of Steve Vai and Metallica's Kirk Hammett. One of the masters of instrumental guitar music, Satriani is filmed here at San Francisco's legendary Fillmore in December of 2000. Playing guitar and harmonica, the star awes his audience with his audacious, vibrant, and incredibly virtuoustic mastery of the guitar. 25 tracks are included.


EARL KLUGH Live on Jazz Central 2000

Discover your sense of jazz with extraordinary acoustic guitarist Earl Klugh as he performs live on "Jazz Central" at Black Entertainment Television's Studio 2 in Washington, D.C. It's classic Klugh in concert playing contemporary jazz soundscapes an melodic ballads in his trademark style. Tracks: Wiggle, Living Inside Your Love, Wind and the Sea, Rayna, Midnight in San Juan, Take It From the Top, Private Affair, Whimpers and Promises, Tropical Legs, Mount Airy Road, Last Song, Dr.Macumba. Another release in BET's remarkable live jazz series JAZZ CHANNEL PRESENTS, this video features a stellar performance from Earl Klugh. A jazz guitarist, Klugh worked with several jazz heavyweights, including George Benson, before embarking on a highly successful solo career. His remarkable, innovative playing is showcased in this performance, during which he picks and plucks his way through a dozen of his classics. As always, an interview with the star is included.


LEE RITENOUR - OVERTIME Live 2004 (2 DVD)

This 18 song 2-DVD set covers his music from the 70s to the present. It covers 4 distinct areas starting out with acoustic jazz and moving into Brazilian music with Ivan Lins, fusion days at The Baked Potato including the original band of Dave Grusin, Patrice Rushen, Anthony Jackson, HArvey Mason, Ernie Watts, and Steve Foreman, as well as many of his popular 80s songs. There are also 2 new songs, one of which is a new single with vocalist Kenya Hathaway. With his distinctly fluid playing style, Lee Ritenour has established himself as one of the world's leading jazz fusion guitarists. Dubbed "Captain Fingers" for his manual dexterity, Ritenour began his career in the early 1970s as a session player for artists as diverse as the Mamas and the Papas, Tony Bennett, Pink Floyd, and Dizzy Gillespie before launching himself as a solo artist in 1976. Since then, Ritenour's long and varied career has moved from traditional jazz and jazz fusion in the 1970s to Brazilian music and smooth jazz in he 1980s and '90s. The aptly titled OVERTIME captures Ritenour in every stage of his career with a selection of 19 songs that feature guest appearances by longtime cohorts Dave Grusin, Patrice Rushen, Anthony Jackson, Harvey Mason, Ernie Watts, and Steve Foreman (all of whom played with Ritenour at the legendary Los Angeles jazz club the Baked Potato) as well as more recent collaborators such as Brazilian singer-songwriter Ivan Lins, saxophonist Eric Marienthal, trumpeter Chris Botti, and vocalist Kenya Hathaway.


CHICK COREA Live at Montreux 2004

Corea performs at Montreux in 2004 with sidement John Patitucci on bass, Frank Gambale on guitar, Dave Weckl on drums, and Eric Marienthal on sax. The 2 and a half hour concert was part of the tour for the most recent Elektric Band album To the Stars, and the first part of the concert is made up of a number of tracks from that album. After the interlude, the band comes back to offer a selection of classic tracks. Legendary pianist Chick Corea remains a towering figure in the world of jazz music, first as a keyboard player for Miles Davis during the trumpeter's groundbreaking BITCHES BREW era in the late-'60s, and then as co-founder (with bassist Stanley Clarke) of the seminal jazz-fusion band Return to Forever. This concert film captures the jazz icon performing at the 2004 Montreux Jazz Festival with the Chick Corea Elektric Band, which features Corea on keyboards, John Patitucci on bass, Frank Gambale on guitar, Dave Weckl on drums, and Eric Marienthal on saxophone. Corea's rhythmic style and uniquely inventive approach to improvisation are on full display in the electrifying two-and-a-half-hour performance, which features live renditions of his 2004 album, TO THE STARS, as well as a selection of older classics such as "Eternal Child," "Spain," and "Blue Miles.


STEVE VAI Live at The Astoria London

This DVD concert video was recorde while on tour in 2001, supporting his "Alive in the Ultra World" release. Recorded in 5.1 surround sound mix, the DVD features backstage footage, interviews, a complete discography and commentary track from steve and his superstar bnad, including Billy Sheehan, Virgil Donati, Tony MacAlpine and Dave Weiner. Some of the songs featured in the 2 1/2 hour concert are being performed live for the very first time. Steve Vai is a world-renowned virtuoso guitarist, captured here at the London Astoria on December 6 and 7th, 2001. With a tight band backing him, Vai lets loose with some awesome fretboard action, some of which will leave guitar aficionados gobsmacked. Two Hendrix songs are covered ("Fire," and "Little Wing") as well as some original songs including "Shy Boy," "Blue Powder," "For The Love of God," "The Attitude Song," and many more.


YELLOW JACKETS 25 Live

This 25th anniversary of Yellow Jackets. Guitarist Robben Ford and his Yellow Jackets love to playfully work seemingly disparate styles into their music. This live recording sees them performing in celebration of their 25th year together, and the concert footage is complemented by album of their best excursions into jazz fusion.



JEAN MICHEL JARRE - Oxigene Moscow Live

This 120 minute DVD celebrated Moscow's 850th birthday in 1997 and features The Ex-Red Army Choir, Bolshioi Kids Choir and Young Bolshoi Dancers. French native Jean Michel Jarre is one of the leading innovators of the European electronica. A keyboardist and composer, Jarre started out composing ballet scores and film soundtracks. Now married to actress Charlotte Rampling, he has turned his complete attention to his revolutionary electronic operas. OXYGENE MOSCOW was filmed at a 1997 celebration in honor of Moscow's 850th birthday. Attended by nearly 4 million people, Jean Michel Jarre performed some of his music with the accompaniment of the Bolshoi Kid and Red Army Choirs. In addition to this live extravaganza, a documentary about Jarre entitled JEAN MICHEL JARRE: THE PORTRAIT is included on this video.


CASIOPEA Vintage Live 2002 (2 DVD) or (1 DVD9)

2003 release. Japan's kings of electric funk/fusion recorded live at the Akasaka Blitz, in Japan on December 22, 2002, with special guest Toshiyuki Honda on sax. Issei Noro - guitars; Minoru Mukaiya - keys; Yoshihiro Naruse - bass; and Akira Jimbo - drums. Running Time: 125 Minutes.


CASIOPEA Live History Part 2 (2 DVD)

2002 release. Two more shows from the Casiopea Archives packaged together as a two DVD set. The first DVD 'Joia Casiopea World Tour' was recorded live in Japan, Brazil, Australia, Mexico, and the US during July-September 1988. The band: Issei Noro - guitar; Minoru Mukaiya - keys; Tetsuo Sakurai - bass; Akira Jimbo - drums; and a horn section! The second DVD, 'Made In Melbourne,' was recorded in Melbourne, Australia on February 26, 1992 and features Issei Noro - guitar; Minoru Mukaiya - keys; Yoshihiro Naruse - bass; and Masaaki Hiyama - drums. Running Time: 135 minutes.
