SPACE OUT - Live @ CRESCENDO Festival 2007 (JAZZ Rock from CANADA)

VERY RARE DVD
Spaced Out explore a form of music containing elements from several genres, with progressive rock, metal and jazz being the most dominant styles in their sonic explorations. A central characteristic of their compositions is high class musicianship; all members are technically very proficient and make concentrated efforts to use their technical abilities as much as possible in their tunes. They make sure that each individual member gets the chance to showcase his abilities, as well as combining these individual abilities collectively in highly intricate themes and structures demanding that each individual player has to push himself towards the edge of his abilities to perform his individual instrument's role, and to make sure that the interplay with the others is kept up at all times. There is no set formula to the songs here; rather you'll get a high degree of variation in the sonic patterns explored. Sometimes one instrument will dominate while the other instruments underscore, at other times two instruments will explore slightly or highly different melodies and sounds; and a few times all three instruments will have their individual explorations with varying degrees of harmonizing between them. At times the soundscape will be minimalistic, exploring subtle details, at other times the arrangements will be highly complex and demanding to listen to, with a plethora of notes and melodies in a highly eclectic setting. Although Spaced Out doesn't have a keyboard player anymore, keyboards are still used in their compositions. In a live setting such as this prerecorded samples are used to add this musical element to the performance. This live DVD is an interesting addition to the band's discography. With the level of concentration demanded by the members playing these tunes, there's not much entertainment from the band here besides the music - some lighting and smoke effects are used, but the focus here is the performance.

QUINCY JONES 75th Birthday Celebration : Live At Montreux 2008 (2DVD9) DTS-Audio

RARE DVD
On July 14th, 2008, a very special event took place at the Stravinsky Auditorium in Montreux, Switzerland. A number of musicians who have had the opportunity to work with Jones during the years gathered to celebrate his 75th birthday. For well over two hours, they sang, played, joked and thanked a living legend. The actual concert is truly impossible to describe with simple words. Even a quick glance at the names of the musicians who took the stage should immediately reveal to you how incredibly influential Jones has been. In fact, one could argue that many of them have been just as influential as Jones – years from now, people will still talk about Chaka Khan, Herbie Hanckok, Al Jarreau, Lee Ritenour, Nathan East, Paulinho Da Costa, James Moody, Toots Thielemans, Patty Austin, Nana Mouskouri, Billy Cobham, Patrice Rushen, Joe Sample, Larry Williams, Greg Phillinganes, Paul Jackson Jr., etc ...

INCOGNITO - 30th Anniversary Concert Live in LONDON 2010 (2DVD9)

VERY RARE DVD
Incognito is far more than just a band. The sound visionary Jean-Paul "Bluey" Maunick has been pioneering in the mercurial acid jazz scene, and as a talent factory, Incognito has rolled out the red carpet for vocal prodigies, such as Jocelyn Brown and the best musicians from the British groove community. Short-lived musical trends have done nothing to damage the popularity of this multi-cultural band with their driving rhythms and elegant melodies and they have become a trademark all over the world, especially live. In this vein, "Bluey" Maunick celebrated Incognito's 30th birthday on stage at the London INDIGO2 with a thrilling concert in summer 2009.

It was a fantastic night: with their blend of soul and jazz, funk and fusion almost 30 musicians, with several surprise guest appearances, electrified the audience. Thanks to the contagious energy and the virtuoso solo numbers, each song became something special. And as if this band hadn't given us enough variety already, the strings of the Millennia Ensemble provided a delightful additional interplay of sound. Incognito didn't just celebrate 30 years of first-rate music and continued success with this performance - they also gave their fans an unforgettable gift.
DVD with Dolby Digital 2.0/5.1 and DTS 5.1.

STANLEY JORDAN TRIO - The Paris Concert 2007

RARE DVD
As one of the most gifted guitarists of his generation, Stanley Jordan has often been referred to as the ''uncontested master'' of the two-handed tap technique so-called due to his ability to play rhythm and melody simultaneously, like a pianist.

This spectacular talent gained him fame and respect all over the world. Stanley Jordan is, however, much more than a top-class expert. His interpretations of the grand repertoire of guitarists from Bird and Trane to John and Paul are true masterpieces, which boldly blend tradition and new age. But the strength and depth of his multi-faceted diamond-like music stem from his early and unshakable - belief in the power of his art. For Stanley, making music has not only been about entertainment, but rather has a spiritual element to it as well, as he regards it as highly therapeutic.

Recorded in July 2007 at the New Morning venue in Paris alongside Charnett Moffett and David Haynes, the trio provides the crowd with a breathtaking performance.

LARRY CORYELL - A Retrospective Live 2007

RARE DVD
Filmed in concert at Hollywood's The Avalon, the focus is on Coryell's blues-laden impressions of Jazz and Rock.
Larry Coryell grew up in the Seattle area and became heavily involved with drugs while attending the University of Washington. He moved to New York in 1965 and took his habit with him. His music didn't audibly suffer for it, as Coryell carved a legendary place for himself in the nascent fusion and jazz-rock arenas. He battled his substance abuse and since the '80s has managed a successful career.

STEVE LUKATHER & EDGAR WINTER - Live At North Sea Jazz (Released 2010)

RARE DVD
Steve Lukather & Edgar Winter - Live At North Sea Jazz Festival It was the coming together of two musical giants, both with their unique style. When these 2 extraordinary musicians, Steve Lukather and Edgar Winter, came together on stage at the North Sea Festival, they had already achieved legendary careers in their own right.
Steve Lukather started as a studio musician before becoming a founding member of rocband 'Toto'. His guitar style and influence can be heard on numerous albums of notable artists such as Michael Jackson, Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney and Chicago. Having been influenced by Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton, Steve developed a guitar style, which paid tribute to both Rock and Jazz styles, playing with such perfection and intensity that you can still spot his influence among a thousand other guitarists.
Edgar Winter is the younger brother of Johnny Winter. Having debuted at the Woodstock-Festival, he also fusioned Rock, Blues and Jazz since his first great successes in 1970. Working with musicians such as Rick Derringer, David Lee Roth and Ringo Starr, he was equally well prepared to team up with Steve Lukather. Together with Phil Soussan (Bass) and Gary Ferguson (Drums) the concert at the North Sea Jazz Festival was not only a firework of improvisation, but an intense demonstration of the perfection and skills of Lukather and Winter. Feeling totally free from stylistic barriers, this concert is a perfect symbiosis of these two talents, presenting the best of Winter's collection ("Fly Away", "Frankenstein") and some breathtaking highlights penned by Lukather (as exemplified in his tearful tribute to Toto-Drummer Jeff Porcarco in "Song for Jeff"). A specific standout among the many other highlights of this concert is the medley of Rock'n Roll classics. Summing up the genius of these two outstanding artists, their improvising on songs such as “Johnny B Good” and “Whole Lotta Shakin' Going On” remaining as colorful, fresh and dynamic, never to be heard before. A brilliant evening of musicality quality as you will never experience again.

NOSSO TRIO - Vento Bravo Live 2005 (FUSION Band from Brasil)

VERY RARE DVD
On their own work, Vento Bravo, Nosso Trio shows its own face. Of course there are technical tour de forces, but the music always dominates. The arrangement is dedicated to the dazzling talents of the three musicians. Even before the song's theme, Kiko Freitas sets a percussive tempo, Ney Conceição pays tribute to the late great bassist Nico Assumpção and Nelson Faria shows why he studied with Joe Diorio. After this impressive short prelude, "O Barquinho" proves to have the qualities of a true jazz standard with the smooth guitar solo and an obstinate bass solo. On Nelson Faria's composition "Partindo pro Alto" the trio shows how technique can serve a complicated piece of music. The three musicians take the solo spot in an amazing way without losing contact with the relaxed but challenging theme. The beautiful ballad "Balada p'a Nadia" brings a moment of peace before the title track "Vento Bravo" demands full attention with a complicated rhythm scheme on which Kiko Freitas works his way towards a dazzling drum solo. The song is followed by another rhythmical tour de force on which the three musicians improvise around the simple sounding theme. "Fala Negão" is again a wonderful ballad on which Nelson Faria performs one of his outstanding solos, perfectly accompanied by his two fellow musicians.
Vento Bravo is another example of good and intelligent Brazilian jazz that deserves much more attention than it gets. The DVD was recorded Live at the Teatro Maria Clara Machado, Rio de Janeiro, 2005 without the public . The production although simple, was very well executed, particularly the performance of the three musicians.

JEAN MICHEL JARRE - Water For Life Concert 2006

VERY RARE DVD
"Water for Life" was a concert given by French electronic musician Jean Michel Jarre on the night of December 16, 2006 amidst the dunes of the Sahara desert at Merzouga, Morocco. The concert was held under the auspice of UNESCO as 2006 had been designated the International Year of Deserts and Desertification by the United Nations General Assembly. The stage featured a collection of nine 4-by-10-metre vertical screens (similar to those in the 1993 Europe in Concert tour), described as "doors to the desert". On them were projected images - static and animated -, as in a typical Jarre concert. For the first time on a Jarre concert, however, live images of the performers and the audience were also projected on the screens. Behind the stage, the desert dunes were lit, and fireworks were shot behind and around the stage. Two general rehearsals were held, on the previous night and on the evening of the day of the concert, complete with fireworks. Like Jarre's previous concert, space of Freedom, they were filmed to get additional coverage for a post-live edit. The rehearsals were also filmed to prevent any bad weather during the live concert preventing its release on video, as had happened before with The Twelve Dreams of the Sun (1999-2000) and Aero - Tribute to the Wind (2002).

VANGELIS - Mythodea Live (Music for the NASA Mission - 2001 Mars Odyssey)

Very RARE DVD
An avatar of Orchestral Synthesis for 30 years, Vangelis has only now made his full orchestral outing with the ambitious and epic Mythodea. Currently linked as theme music for NASA's Mission to Mars program, Mythodea dates back to 1993, when Vangelis premiered the work in a live performance. After the amorphous synthesizer opening, Vangelis is little-heard, using his keyboards only to support the large orchestra, 100-voice mixed choir, massed timpani, and the twin soprano leads of Kathleen Battle and Jessye Norman. Echoes of Gustav Holst, Gustav Mahler, and Carl Orff suffuse Mythodea, with its stentorian choirs, rumbling percussion, and dense string writing. Singing a hybrid language, Norman and Battle spiral through Vangelis's evocation of an ancient Greek landscape. By turns smothering and grandiose, and often turgid, Mythodea is nevertheless studded with memorable themes, notably "Movement 9." It's a poignant, haunting melody, with the sopranos looping back and forth in ascending arcs, recalling Delibes's aria from "Lakmé," better known as the British Airways theme. This is the Vangelis of "L'Enfant," and "Heaven & Hell," where the composer's true voice is heard.

Its music has to be honest, can give something to the audience. Has a tendency to be original, but its' only aim should not be separation at all cost. The members should be masters of their own instruments with a musical education background; musicians who can professionally perform anywhere and in any circumstances. They should be inspiring towards each other not only as an artist, but also as private people as the unified sound of a band is not the simple sum of the instruments, but it is the musical synthesis, which raises the experience of playing in a band to a higher level. A good band is able to revive but in a way, that it can deliberately keep its' previous basic values of music and with saving them, refresh them. This is the reason, why Djabe is a good band, as it is able to meet these demands. I write about the latest DVD & CD (Slices of life) of the band in the spirit of taining the existing values and also refreshing the music. I feel, even After several sessions of listening, and what is more I feel to a continuing greater intensity, that with this album Djabe has once and for all made it to the international front line. As far as I am concerned Djabe was already there anyway, but after this CD even those who were making faces before will have to admit defeat and replay it. This record reflects freshness, momentum, intellectual demand and professionalism in the best meaning. After even the first beat of Doromb it is clear for the listener that he or she has found an extraordinary piece of music material. The original introduction is followed all the way through by vibrating joyful music, beating, dynamic. To sum up, Djabe can be happily congratulated for this excellent musical performance. Through the personal touch as well, the music atmosphere of Dancing Sheafs is definitely lyrical and especially intellectual. It has certainly set the standard, to a very high level. With this new music material the band has managed to step forward once more. The direction is right, heading for world renown! The cover of the album was made with fine taste, for it fits finely to the music content of the CD.

DJABE - Take On (DVD-Video+DVD-Audio)

RARE DVD
The new album of Djabe is a worthy continuation of the band’s traditions and the values represented by them so far. The composing ability of Tamás Barabás integrates all the talent of the members of the band, creating a new quality by that. The compositions are fresh, unique, still sound familiar. World music form Hungary, Azerbaijan, approaching jazz from different ways in a specific execution. The members of the band play in their finest fettle. This album is the final work of András Sipos, singer and percussionist, since he almost entirely finished the recordings before his death. His singing misses from three songs... As we could get used to, great guest artists regularly participate on the Djabe albums. Herewith there are even two sax-players perform on the album. One of them is Ben Castle from England, who is a regular participant of the Djabe albums, and John Nugent from USA, who plays together with the band for the first time. A particular variety is the play of the world-famous master of tar-player, Malik Mansurov from Azerbaijan in the tune Kilinama. The composition Wind and Bell converts into Gipsy music at the end. Sándor Budai and his band represents a surprising turn in the world of Take on. The album summarizes all the knowledge that Djabe have learned and showed from music for 12 years. The DVDA format of the album contains the whole music in Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 - Video extra is: 50 minutes concert footage, recorded at the Debrecen Jazz.
