Matt's style of playing and his compositions were fresh and really show what all the hype is about Matt Garrison. Some are hard to digest on the first round and may not be recommendable for those who are looking for an easy-listening soft jazz type CD. The overall production quality and the layout of the DVD can be improved quite a bit but not disappointing considering it's his private production. 2006 Release. This is the first dvd from the ever popular Japanese fusion band Fragile. Six of their most popular tracks recorded live. I love Japanese fusion bands. Fragile is one of the finest - not just in Japan, but the entire world. They are that good. Really. Veering from clever melodies to tear your face off intensity (often in the same song), they always keep things interesting. The musicianship is top notch, each player a virtuoso - check it out. But they really gel as a band.
I figured all the fusion lovers would appreciate this extremely RARE recording from an intimate club in Tokyo.

One of the world's biggest and best drum festivals, the MODERN DRUMMER FESTIVAL was held in 2005 at New Jersey's state-of-the-art Performing Arts Center. The three-day festival features illuminating interviews, amazing performances, equipment demonstrations, and plenty of tips and advice. Featured in the more than seven hours of footage collected here are drum greats like Jason Bittner, Rodney Holmes, Keith Carlock, Chris Adler, Jojo Mayer, Alex Acuna, Raul Rekow and Karl Perazzo, Chad Smith and Ian Paice, The Latin All Stars with Sheila E, and Roy Haynes. STEVE VAI - Visual Sound Theories

This DVD consists of orchestral music and other rich compositional pieces that Steve has written. Vai was commissioned to compose an hour of music for the Metropole Orkest in Holland but ended up putting together an exceptional 2 hours of quality work. The DVD includes 15 tracks plus orchestra only performance, behind the scenes featurette, interview at De Oosterpoort with Vai, and additional performance. These 2004 and 2005 live performances highlight the collaboration between instrumental guitar composer Steve Vai and the Metropole Orkest from Holland. Vai's trademark rock guitar creations are enriched by the accompaniment of a full orchestra, directed by conductor Dick Bakker.

RETURN TO FOREVER - Returns Live at Montreux 2008 (DVD9)

After a quarter century apart, the core line-up of the jazz quartet Return to Forever : Chick Corea, Lenny White, Stanley Clark, and Al Di Meola--reunited for a world tour in 2008. This remarkable concert film captures the foursome on stage at Montreux, playing bewitching renditions of "Vulcan Worlds," "Sorceress," "Romantic Warrior," and many others. Return To Forever were at the forefront of jazz/rock fusion in the seventies and like their contemporaries Weather Report and Mahavishnu Orchestra were formed by a former Miles Davis sideman, in this case the great Chick Corea. Return To Forever hit their commercial and artistic peak with a string of albums in the mid-seventies featuring the line-up of Chick Corea on keyboards, Stanley Clarke on bass, Al Di Meola on guitar and Lenny White on drums. In 2008 this classic line-up reunited for their first tour in 25 years and proved that their musicianship and the chemistry within the band were as strong as ever. This concert was filmed at Montreux in July 2008 with the bonus tracks being filmed in Clearwater, Florida later the same month. Running Time: 149 minutes
